When I listened to California Love, The Daily News, and Welcome to Nightvale I enjoyed all three of the podcasts. They all immersed me in the story with the word diction/dialogue and the music choice. I like how they all had a narrative that they all try to depict for the listeners. They try to place the listeners in the story and news. The use of music to describe the tone and mood of the story and the podcast episode itself. California Love storytelling really made me feel the emotions and the interviews in between the storytelling really stood out to me. I like the storytelling style and it appeals to me because it visualizes the story through audio. It takes talent and hard work to demonstrate, even showcase a story through audio. Welcome to Nightvale was a really fun one for me especially when it transitioned to the news talking about the glowing cloud. I was really invested. One thing I disliked was how monotone the narrator was speaking. I feel like if you are narrating a fictional story then it should be expressions and effects to really elevate the story itself. The Daily News was really informal and it is interesting to hear about people’s actual life stories. It keeps it focused on the story itself so you can tell it is really news and they want to share these stories with people. Overall, I noticed the differences between all three of them besides the genres like news, fiction, and non-fiction. The approach to California Love was storytelling, interviews, dialogue to portray the story. The approach to the Daily News was narrating information about a person’s story and what happened in their life. While, the approach to Welcome to Nightvale was just solely based on narrating a story.
